PLATFORM FASHION, 9th EDITION – Announcement schedule – media registration

With 6 fashion shows, around 25 participating labels and 4,000 expected guests, PLATFORM FASHION starts successfully into the ninth season, taking place from January 26th to January 28th 2018 on Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf. With the support of partners such as LEXUS Germany and Broich Catering, the fashion show concept offers established fashion brands and up-and-coming young designers the opportunity to present their collections at a high-profile event during the Düsseldorf order days.
With each new season, PLATFORM FASHION strengthens its objective to continuously evolve as a networking hub for various styles and innovative ideas. “PLATFORM FASHION stands for new designs and high quality fashion, a place connecting innovation and lifestyle. We feel very much at home here, as Lexus also stands for constant advancement and highest quality.”, says Markus Burgmer, Marketing Manager Lexus Germany.

SCHEDULE
PLATFORM FASHION starts on Friday, January 26th at 21:00h with fashion and lifestyle company Breuninger, showing a selection of highlights from current collections to customers and numerous celebrity guests.
Continuing on Saturday, January 27th, graduates from Akademie Mode&Design will be showing their innovative designs at 15:00h, making it once more evident that for AMD students the development of signature design characteristics is a priority on the curriculum. FashionYard meets PLATFORM FASHION will follow at 18:00h, when selected fashion labels present their latest collections on the catwalk. The show is complemented by a pop up sales area, where the unique designs of all participating labels can be purchased.
As part of the newly launched format THE NRW DESIGN ISSUE – TNRWDI, the runway show TNRWDI CATWALK takes place at 21:00h pm. Featured labels include MIAKI KOMURO from Dusseldorf, machart manufaktur from Steinheim or jen mm design from Wuppertal. TNRWDI was created to show the great diversity and high quality of designs from designers operating from in North Rhine-Westphalia.
For the sixth time already, the fashion show PLATFORM FASHION SELECTED provides design talents with the opportunity to stage their individual ideas of fashion on Sunday, January 28th at 18.30h. Different approaches from brands such as Nadja Kiess, Alexandra Fuks, Beate Heymann or CABO by MILKA produce an exciting space for creativity. The fashion show of designer Thomas Rath, will conclude the evening at 20.30h with the glamorous theme of “Casino Royale”.

In order to meet growing demands of B2C sales, a limited number of tickets is available for FashionYard meets PLATFORM FASHION and PLATFORM FASHION SELECTED via Eventbrite / www.eventbrite.com. With opening selected shows to the public, PLATFORM FASHION reacts once again to the strong interest in runway shows by a fashion-conscious audience.

CAMPAIGN ARTWORK
Artist Udo Dziersk created the campaign artwork for PLATFORM FASHION’s ninth edition. The internationally successful painter, professor at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts and master student of Markus Lüpertz designed “Fokussieren”, a multi-layered oil painting broaching the phenomenon of role-play, stage, dressing up and fashion. “I see a strong correlation between fashion and art. It does not have to exist at the same time, but can also take effect after intervals, “explains Dziersk.

THE NRW DESIGN ISSUE – TNRWDI
From January 26th to January 27th 2018, THE NRW DESIGN ISSUE / TNRWDI puts young fashion design from North Rhine-Westphalia into the spotlight and will spark new impulses for the fashion and art market in NRW with its three TNRWDI INTERACTION, TNRWDI TEMPORARY and TNRWDI CATWALK. The mix of a public presence across selected galleries in Düsseldorf, various expert lectures and the presentation on the catwalk is bound to create strong synergies. The format is supported by the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Economics, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy as well as CREATIVE.NRW, the German Fashion Designers Federation and Galleries Düsseldorf.

BACKGROUND
The venue for PLATFORM FASHION will be the Glühofenhalle with its adjacent outdoor area as well as the Alte Federnfabrik on Areal Böhler.
